A focus on equality of opportunity has given every student at Lake Wyangan Public School the gift of music, a gift they took to the streets on Monday. Students of the school’s band and choir were spotted at a preschool and two nursing homes before they hit Central Plaza to spread some Christmas joy. For principal Justin Dawson there was a simple philosophy behind the event. “We offer music to every student, it is not who can afford it – every single child will be part of a band on their way through,” he said. “We want to give them the same opportunities they can have anywhere else.” Mr Dawson said the music program had been a ‘huge’ undertaking made possible by the help of parents and the school community.
