The Leeton Greens' league tag side are following their first grade counterparts and have kept their perfect record alive with a 60-0 win over Yanco-Wamoon on Saturday. The Greens started strongly, with Katie McGregor able to get over in the corner twice within the opening five minutes of the clash to set the tone for the afternoon. The tries continued to rain in the opening quarter of an hour, with Charlotte Rudd able to get over next to the post to make it three tries in as many sets while Jessica McDonell followed soon after. Anna McClure was able to get over for her first of the day after a 70m break, while Elli Gill gave Leeton a 30-0 lead after she was able to run across the field and exploit a gap out wide to score in the corner. The clinical first half was wrapped up with a try in the final minute of the first half, with the Greens able to make the most of a mistake from the Hawks and spread the ball out wide to McClure, who scored her second of the day to see the Greens leading 36-0. The scoring slowed somewhat in the opening stages of the second half as the wet conditions rolled in, but Leeton was eventually able to add to their lead with Gill crossing for her second of the game. McDonell was the next to make it two tries of the day after making the most of a penalty close to the line, while McClure was able to score her third of the day after finding a way past the Hawks defence. RELATED The margin pushed past the fifty mark as McDonell stepped her way through Hawks defence to score her third of the day before Olivia Eisenhut wrapped up the derby victory with a try late in the second half. Coach Daniel Watt was pleased with his side's execution in what was a big day for the club. "They started the game really well, and they didn't stop," he said. "They were supporting in attack so awesomely, and in defence, they were working really well as a team. "I was impressed with the way they were talking and communicating with each other." The Greens will look to continue their perfect start against Hay while Yanco-Wamoon will take on DPC Roosters. *** Our journalists work hard to provide local, up-to-date news to the community.
