Spreyton let slip a commanding position against Central Coast to lose by three wicket with two balls to spare at Maidstone Park on Saturday. The Eagles registered 4-188 with Adam Haywood falling just short of his maiden MVCA century with 98 from 164 deliveries, combining with Jeffrey Bingham to set a defendable target. At 7-116 Central Coast looked down and out before a 74-run partnership between Steven Atkins (22 not out) and Paul Smith (43 not out) got the Crows over the line. Smith's innings came from 49 deliveries and was made up partly of five boundaries and one six. Mersey Colts was also in big trouble in its match against Turners Beach but recovered to win by 21 runs at John Carey Oval. Colts slumped to 6-53 and then 7-87 but were rescued by Ethan Clark (68) and Shane Hughes (47) to record 195 all out in the 48th over. Heath Horton was chief destroyer for the Titans with 4-34 from 10 overs. In reply, Turners Beach lost wickets steadily with only Sam Wyllie (39) passing 25. John Carey secured the figures for Colts with 3-32 while Jonty Clark took 3-35. An innings of all or nothing for Don saw the Steamers chalk up 222 all out against Sassafras at Perkins Park. ALSO IN SPORT Four batters made scores in excess of 40, including Kade Pitchford with 61, while the remaining seven batters combined for three runs. Zac Webb finished with figures of 5-34 for Sassafras. The chase for the Red Dirters barely got off the ground, all out for 148, Brendan Thorpe top scoring with 69 with Pitchford taking 4-32.
