FIVE members from the Bendigo Amateur Boxing Club will be vying for glory when the Victorian Amateur Boxing Association championships start tomorrow at Brunswick’s Reggio Calabria Club.

First-round contests are on tomorrow, with quarter-finals and semi-finals on November 25 and December 1.
Finals will be fought on December 16.
Boxers from the Pat Connolly-coached squad based in California Gully who will contest the state titles are Boedan Nelson, Doug Lee, Aaron Walshe, Blake Broughton and Jason Connally.
The titles will be Nelson’s boxing debut as he competes in the youth (under-19) 57kg class.
Lee will contest his second bout in the youth 75kg division.
Walsh and Broughton will contest their third bouts when they compete in the youth 69kg and senior 81kg classes respectively.
The most experienced of the group, Connally will line up for his sixth bout in the senior 69kg class.
Golden Square-based Hit Factory also has five boxers preparing for the VABA titles.
Boxers from the Danniel Burton-trained squad aiming to fight on November 25 are Keenan Gallagher, 75kg, middleweight; Todd Robertson, 64kg, light welterweight; Mitch Smith, 69kg, welterweight; Eza White, 91kg, heavyweight; and 14-year-old Jordy Garland in the lightweight, 60kg class.
