Mahindra Australia has confirmed its next new vehicle, the mid-sized XUV700 SUV, will go on sale on June 15.

On this date prospective buyers will also be able to go to a Mahindra dealer and organise a test drive of a XUV700.
This Mitsubishi Outlander, Honda CR-V, and Nissan X-Trail-rivalling SUV will only be available in two high-spec seven-seat guises at launch, dubbed AX7 and AX7L. Five seats variants are available in other markets.
All Australian-delivered XUV700 variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 149kW of power and 380Nm of torque.
This is exclusively mated with an Aisin-sourced six-speed automatic transmission with drive sent to the front wheels only.
In other markets there's a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which is the same as the Scorpio, as well as a manual transmission and all-wheel drive.
The XUV700 also uses McPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link setup at the rear, and frequency-selective damping.
It measures 4695mm long, 1890mm wide, 1755mm tall including roof rails, and rides a 2750mm wheelbase.
Compared to the XUV500 its replaces, the XUV700 is 110mm longer and has a 50mm longer wheelbase.
Mahindra has yet to confirm local pricing for the XUV700 range, however the XUV500 was priced from $27,990 to $34,990 drive-away during its last year on sale in 2021, and the Scorpio is currently priced from $41,990 to $44,990 drive-away until June 30, 2023.
The unibody Mahindra XUV700, pronounced 'X-U-V-seven-double-oh' was first revealed in August 2021 but is now following the local launch of the body-on-frame Scorpio SUV due to global supply chain woes.
Unlike the Scorpio, the XUV700 will come with a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) from launch, including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, Smart Pilot Assist, traffic sign recognition, and auto high-beam.
It's understood the Scorpio will receive these active safety features as part of a mid-life update as AEB is becoming mandatory on all new cars sold in Australia from March 1, 2025.
Australian specifications for the Mahindra XUV700 are still being finalised, but New Zealand-delivered examples receive the following:

It's unclear if these paint colours will be called a different names in Australia, or if there will be a different colour set altogether.
