Telstra is reporting "two separate cable cuts on the main routes to Tassie".
The telco stated on Facebook that if customers were "having an issue with your mobile or home broadband in Tasmania, our team are on to it".
Aussie Broadband is reporting the outage also.
On its Facebook page it published: "There is currently an internet outage affecting us, and most ISP's, within Tasmania- we do apologise that this has occurred".
A TPG Telecom spokesperson said its mobile, home broadband and NBN customers across the brands, Vodafone, TPG, iiNet, Lebara and felix, were currently experiencing connectivity issues in Tasmania due to two third party cable issues.
"Customers may have limited or no service at this time. Where our mobile network is unavailable, Triple Zero calls will divert to another network if available.
"Call wait times into our contact centre are also higher than usual. We are working to restore services as quickly as possible."
Tasmania's state's power utility, TasNetworks, posted on Facebook that "upstream provider issues" were causing the major outage.
"TasNetworks external website has been impacted and is currently unavailable as a result."
More to come.
