Bendigo bakers will join 615 Bakers Delight stores across Australia in turning their products pink.
Together they aim to raise $1.2 million to help support the Breast Cancer Network of Australia (BCNA).
The bakeries will donate 100 per cent of the sale of their pink finger buns to the BCNA.
Bendigo Marketplace Bakers Delight owner Wayne Connors said the campaign was an annual fundraiser he looked forward to.
“I think the pink finger buns are most popular with little kids,” he said.
Mr Connors said on average the bakery sold just under 100 buns a day.
“The buns cost $1.50 and sometimes we sell more than 90 so we hope to raise a lot of money for BCNA,” he said.
Mr Connors said he had chosen another item of which funds from the sale would also go to charity.
“A portion of our high hibre, low GI loaf bread will also go to BCNA,” he said.
Breast cancer survivor, and one of Australia’s most famous Olympians, Raelene Boyle said the money raised from this initiative would go to information resources.
“The My Journey Kit is a free resource given to women newly diagnosed with breast cancer,” she said.
“The booklet will provide practical tips about keeping active for women within the BCNA network.”
Network chief executive officer Maxine Morand said more than 14,000 women were expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
“We greatly appreciate the support that Bakers Delight bakeries across Australia provide the BCNA,” she said.
As well as selling Pink Buns, staff will be dressed in pink and there will be collection tins on the shop counter for people wishing to give one-off donations.
Customers can also leave a personal message on a Pink Lady silhouette for a gold coin donation.
Bendigo Bakers Delight bakeries are located at Strath Village, Lansell Plaza, Lyttleton Terrace and Bendigo Marketplace.
The campaign ends on May 23.
