So how many parcels did Australia Post deliver locally?
In the Bendigo region - Bendigo, Golden Square, Kangaroo Flat, Eaglehawk, Maiden Gully and Epsom - the service delivered around 130,000 parcels in December.
The Castlemaine area saw more than 21,000 delivered and Maryborough more than 15,000 for the same period.
Echuca parcel deliveries were around 21,000 for the last month of the year and Kyneton had more than 13,000 parcels delivered.
Australia Post said each night during the December peak it had 25 freighters in the air delivering what came to be more than 8.7 million kilograms of parcels.
On the busiest day in the middle of December, a back-breaking 556 tonnes of packages were moved via the air in just 24 hours.
Other news:
More than 20 million customers visited Post Offices to send cards and gifts and collect packages, including more than 3.9 million from PO Boxes, while more than 475,000 items were also collected from Australia Post's free parcel lockers around the country during December, the most ever in a month.
Group chief executive and managing director Paul Graham said many months had been spent preparing for the festive season and despite the continuing challenges presented by the pandemic, the entire Australia Post team had delivered a great Christmas for Australians.
"That we have seen another 52 million parcels delivered at Christmas demonstrates the dedication of the people in our post offices, our licensed post office partners, and everyone working across our processing, delivery, customer teams including more than 5000 new team members who helped make it possible," he said.
"We thank Australians for their patience and support during these challenging times."
