Recreational users are encouraged to visit the GMW website for a comprehensive guide on what is allowed and prohibited, as well as what storages remain open to the public in bushfire-affected areas.
GMW Water Storage Services acting general manager Scott Wikman said it was a great time to enjoy recreational activities at the storages while they were at good levels, but reminded everyone to be safe on the water and considerate of other visitors.
"This means respecting GMW bylaws, conserving the local environment, protecting water quality and removing all rubbish," he said.
"Most visitors appreciate the environmental value of our water storages but some people continue to dump rubbish and carry out anti-social behaviour which can adversely impact the experience for other visitors."
Mr Wikman also reminded people to keep informed of water and boating safety rules.
Other stories:
"Boat operators should always wear personal flotation devices, look out for hazards and other users at all times, take note of signage at boat ramps and manage their boating activities to suit local conditions," he said.
"And remember, alcohol and water don't mix."
GMW reminds visitors:
- Campfires are prohibited in GMW recreation areas, foreshore and lakebed areas
- Electric barbecues are available at some recreation areas
- GMW has a 'carry-in carry-out' policy when it comes to rubbish
- Penalties apply for illegally dumping rubbish
