LOCALS across central Victoria are preparing for Australia Day/Survival Day on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
Some community groups have been hard at work planning their annual events at various locations.
We have compiled a list of all the services that are being held in central Victoria.
City of Greater Bendigo
Bendigo
- Time: 10am to 3pm.
- Venue: Bendigo Jockey Club, Heinz Street, Bendigo.
- Official ceremony at 10.30am. Join the Rotary Club of Bendigo Sandhurst for a barbecue, live entertainment, family activities, community displays and Rotary Art and Craft market. Everyone over 12-years-old will need to be double vaccinated or have proof of valid medical exemption.
Huntly
- Time: 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
- Venue: Huntly Hall, 633 Midland Highway, Huntly.
- Official ceremony at 6.30pm. Come together with the Huntly Epsom community for a barbecue dinner, musical entertainment.
Heathcote
- Time: 10am to 2pm.
- Venue: Barrack Reserve Park, High Street, Heathcote.
- The Heathcote RSL Sub-Branch present a family friendly, alcohol and smoke free event, with a ceremony starting at 10am. Families are invited to enjoy a cup of tea and sausage sizzle.
Axedale
- Time: 8am to 10am.
- Venue: Axedale Park Precinct, 94 McIvor Highway, Axedale
- Official ceremony starts at 8.30am followed by a barbecue breakfast and music.
Mia Mia
- Time: 8am to 10am.
- Venue: Mia Mia Recreation Reserve, 1637 Heathcote-Redesdale Road, Mia Mia Mia Mia Mechanics Institute.
- Official ceremony begins at 8am, followed by a barbecue breakfast, music and flag raising. Free event, register here.
Mount Alexander Shire
Castlemaine
- Time: 10am to 1.30pm.
- Venue: Victory Park, 30 Mostyn Street, Castlemaine.
- Join a family-friendly event to acknowledge Australia Day/Survival Day. There will be a Welcome to Country, a Citizenship and Australia Day Awards ceremony, entertainment with local and special guests in attendance. Uncle Rick Nelson will be the MC of this part of the celebrations. Food and drink available. It is a COVID safe event. All attendees required to check in and show proof of full vaccination. This is a waste wise event. BYO bottles and cups.

Bridgewater

Kyvalley
- Time: From 12.15pm.

- Barbecue lunch, community ceremony, guest speaker and entertainment.
Lockington
- Time: 8am to 11.30am.
- Venue: Lions Park, Lockington.
- Breakfast, guest speaker and flag raising ceremony.
Lockington
- Time: Noon to 3pm.
- Venue: Lockington Channel, Singer Road.
- Children's fishing competition which is coordinated by Action Club of Lockington.
Rochester
- Time: From 7.30am.
- Venue: Lions Park, Rochester.
- Barbecue breakfast, flag raising ceremony, Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Karen Livingstone OAM and the presentation of awards.
Rushworth
- Time: From 5.30pm.
- Venue: Village Green, Rushworth.
- Entertainment, a sausage sizzle, Australia Day Ambassador, Dr Kirby White and the presentation of awards.
Stanhope
- Time: From 9.30am.
- Venue: McEwen Place, Stanhope.
- Flag raising ceremony, guest speakers, entertainment, presentation of awards and sausage sizzle will then be held at Community Hall.
Tongala
- Time: From 11am.
- Venue: Tongala Public Hall.
- Flag raising ceremony, Australia Day Ambassador, Mr Neil Soullier OAM, presentation of awards, sing-a-long and a sausage sizzle.
Central Goldfields Shire
Maryborough
- Time: 8.30am to 10.30am.
- Venue: Station Domain, Maryborough.
- Official proceedings at 9.15am. A free breakfast and children's activities will commence at 8.30am. Australia Day awards will be announced. A Citizenship Ceremony will take place. Medallions will be presented to babies born during 2021. Books presented to all four year old children starting kindergarten.
