Drafted from the Bendigo Pioneers, Snell, who suffered a knock to her ribs, laid six tackles and had six disposals as the Bulldogs were beaten by 24 points by Melbourne at the Whitten Oval.
Snell, 19, was among five debutantes for the Western Bulldogs, who were jumped early by the Demons, who went on to win 6.10 (46) to 3.4 (22).
One of the stars for the Demons, tipped to be one of this season's leading flag contenders, was former Bendigo Pioneer Eden Zanker, who racked up 20 disposals, took four marks and kicked one goal from the midfield.
Meanwhile, the AFLW season got under way on Friday night with Tessa Lavey one of the standout players for Richmond in the Tigers' 38-point win over St Kilda.
Lavey - who is combining her AFLW career at the Tigers with the Bendigo Spirit in the WNBL - collected 19 disposals in the Tigers' 10.1 (61) to 3.5 (23) victory at Frankston.
The loss to the Tigers marked the first game as coach of St Kilda for Bendigo's Nick Dal Santo.
