The in-bound lane to the city centre between Mundy Street and St Andrews Avenue is expected to be closed from January 20 to March 4 to shorten the amount of time it takes to complete the next phase, which includes frame of the building.
Detour signs will be in place around Galkangu - the Bendigo GovHub site and all other roads around the site will be open while access to local businesses and residences will be maintained.
Traffic will still be able to use the Town Hall side of Lyttleton Terrace.
"The City has approved the partial road closure to allow for the frame of the new building to be craned into place and maintain safety on site," City of Greater Bendigo chief executive Niemann said.
"Although the closure will lead to a temporary loss of 11 parking bays along the closed section of Lyttleton Terrace, by closing the road it will reduce the need for future disruptions.
"Short delays may occur in being able to move around the area, so we thank the community for its patience while these works take place."
Works are subject to weather conditions and road closure dates may change accordingly.
The Bendigo GovHub - known as Galkangu - is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
