Midwives, doctors and nurses at Bendigo Health have helped welcome three New Year's Day babies for three grateful families.
Among the new arrivals was Finley Somerville, son of Jonas and Allira Somerville.
Jonas said it was a long wait for the parents with Allira induced on Friday and Finley arrive at 11.43pm on Saturday, weighing 3.7 kilograms or eight pounds, two ounces in the old measure.
"It was pretty long but we got there in the end," Jonas said. "He came at 11.43pm, so we just snuck in there. Allira is doing well - she is just tired."
Jonas said Finley was due to arrive on January 14 but the idea of a New Year's Day baby had crossed their minds.
"He wasn't due until January 14, so New Year's Eve or Day was on the cards," Jonas said. "It was quite funny that we were joking about getting a phone call from the Addy about a (New Year's Day) baby.
"It was definitely a different experience, but very worthwhile. We couldn't be happier."
Kayla Hanrahan also welcomed her first child when Silas Thorne Hanrahan was born weighing 2.795 kilograms - or six pounds, one ounce - at 12.41pm on New Year's Day.
The first-time mother said she went in on Friday to be induced and was in labour for two and a half hours when her water broke on Saturday.
"I was due on the 15th but got induced because I went in with reduced movements and had gestational diabetes," Kayla said.
"He's a bit on the small side, so we made the decision to induce and get things ready on New Year's Eve. On New Year's Day they broke my water and off we went. I'm a bit sore now, but good.
"(The experience) was amazing. It was very rewarding and very surreal. It's strange looking at him now and thinking 'I made that, he was inside of me'."
Kayla thanked the Bendigo Health staff and her mum who supported her during labour.
"I have had lots of family support around which is awesome," she said. "I have to thank the midwife Kerrie Collins, all the doctors and my mum Kerrie Hanrahan."
The three New Year's Day babies follow the Christmas Day baby born at Bendigo Health.
Chris and Anita White welcomed their third son, Charles John, on Christmas Day after Anita went into labour on Christmas Eve.
