No Longer on Mute aims to capture young people's reflections during the COVID-19 pandemic and on display are the works of 93 young people including messages, statements and poems up.
Kira Collins, 12, said she was able to turn a school project into her own thought bubble in the exhibition.
"Our teacher asked us to write a poem about COVID-19 and I wrote about it being a shadow over out community," she said.
"It was a good project to do and it's nice to see my words up on the wall in the laneway.
"The pandemic was hard for a lot of people and it was good to be able to get our thoughts and feelings out there.
City Manager Bendigo Venues and Events Julie Amos said No Longer on Mute gave children and young people a voice and creative outlet during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It is a great example of how community art projects can be quite simple in their design yet so restorative and inclusive," she said.
"Young people in Greater Bendigo were given a blank canvas to communicate an idea that was important to them - the pieces on display are profound, informative, hopeful and entertaining.
"The pandemic has impacted young people significantly and deeply affected their ability to socialise, attend school, celebrate birthdays and pursue leisure and sporting activities.
Other stories:
"No Longer on Mute captures their thoughts and feelings in a creative way, and I hope the community will take the time to walk through and read the varied pieces on display as they are a great reflection of what's important to young people in our region.
"It is a privilege to have access to these personal insights."
The public art display is located at Pennyweight Walk, between Bath Lane and Hargreaves Street.
