BCHS Health Promotion team member Kahla Else said everyone wanted to live in a world where people felt supported, welcomed and accepted.
It's why the Anti Stigma Campaign highlights the importance of acting without judgement and taking the time to listen and support each other.

Ms Else said stigma involved negative views and beliefs based on particular characteristics or attributes.
"Stigma continues to have a negative impact within our community, which can lead to people experiencing feelings of hopelessness, isolation and self-doubt," she said.
"It is often inaccurate information and a lack of understanding which drives stigmatisation of individuals and groups.
"The Anti Stigma campaign starts the conversation, encourages people to look beyond the surface and emphasizes just how important it is to be kind.
"The campaign has been developed through extensive research and consultation with members of the community."

The Anti Stigma campaign includes an awareness raising video - which will be displayed on local media and BCHS' social media channels - with the opportunity and vision for the campaign to be shared far and wide in Greater Bendigo and beyond.

"Together, we can improve health and wellbeing and reduce stigma in our community," Ms Else said.
The campaign creates opportunities for our community to unite together and encourages the use of the hashtag #iamlistening on social media.
