VICTORIANS have come together in Bendigo to celebrate 40 years since the landmark decriminalisation of sex between men.
Crowds flocked to festivities at the town Hall on Saturday.
Highlights included drag performances, live music, stalls, a Trans Clothing Swap, short films from the Bendigo Queer Film Festival and exhibitions.
The day was part of Melbourne Pride events and was intended to help heal historic wounds by giving all Victorians the chance to show their pride in and support for LGBTIQ+ communities.
More Melbourne Pride events are scheduled statewide this summer, including a one day street party in Melbourne on February 13.
Member for Bendigo Maree Edwards said the government had delivered $1.9 million in support for Melbourne Pride.
"It doesn't matter whether you live in Melbourne or Bendigo - we support and celebrate every LGBTIQ+ Victorian," she said.
