Victoria Police's Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision which left a man with critical injuries in Derby last night.
A Victoria Police spokesperson believe a small orange truck crashed into the rear of a green Jeep SUV that was parked on the east side of the Calder Highway, between Bridgewater and Marong at about 6pm.

The driver and sole occupant of the Jeep, a 44-year-old Queensland man, was ejected from his vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries.
He was then airlifted to a Melbourne hospital.
The driver of the orange truck, a 25-year-old Melton West man, was taken to hospital for observation and is assisting police with enquiries.
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined and detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the orange truck travelling on the Calder Highway, between Bridgewater and Marong, prior to the crash to come forward.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said there appears to be one patient with life threatening injuries.

The Calder Highway between Marong and Inglewood is closed at Derby following a crash involving a car and a truck.
Police, SES, Ambulance Victoria and fire services are on the scene.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics were called to a road incident in Derby at 6.05pm.

Paramedics remain on scene and an air ambulance helicopter has also been dispatched.
It is believed the truck rolled off the road.
The car is reported to be badly damaged.
