It is the third year running the Live4Life program has taken place.
Deputy mayor Henryka Benson and Youth Mental Health first aid co-ordinator Dr Claire Kelly were on hand to help launch the project.
Live4Life aims to address the educational requirements of the community relating to youth mental health and youth suicide.
Charmaine Vanderbeek from the Macedon Ranges Youth Development Unit said the campaign’s aim was to promote positive minds.
“We are trying to encourage young people to have healthy minds and raise awareness of the issues that young people face,” she said.
“In high school it is usually just about your physical health so we are trying to show young people you have to think about your mental health as well.”
Live4Life involves year 8 students from Gisborne Secondary College, Macedon Grammar, Braemar College, Kyneton Secondary College and Sacred Heart College.
“Live4Life is more about prevention and showing people that there is help out there,” Ms Vanderbeek said.
The Macedon Ranges Shire has entered into a partnership with Cobaw Community Health Service, Bendigo Health, Victoria Police and the five schools to actively promote rural mental health.
This Saturday is also the Central Victorian SPAN suicide prevention walk.
