Paddys Ranges Ward representative, Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor will serve as mayor for a second consecutive term after being elected to the position during a meeting of council last week.

While the meeting was held in person, the ceremony will be closed to the public and the meeting was live-streamed to the council's social media pages due to coronavirus.

Cr Meddows-Taylor said it was an honour to be re-elected to the position of mayor for the next 12 months.
"It is a great honour," he said.
"I am thrilled about it and I think the past year at council was great but there are lots of things to do still."
Cr Meddows-Taylor said the past year had been extremely busy time council and said he was keen to put all hard work into action.
"We have accomplished so much as councillors and council working closely with our chief executive and staff our over the past year, but there is still much to do," he said.
"Our community has set a bold, inspiring ten year vision and we have a focused council plan to position council well to create future success and capture high value opportunities to benefit our community.
"The past year was a lot of planning and shaping work and next year will be implementing all of that and we have an exciting community vision based on the future.

"I want to see this through, the first year was all about working and planning with council and community, I now want to have the opportunity to work these things now and start creating new opportunities."
Cr Meddows-Taylor thanked all councillors for their contributions across the past year.
"I look forward to continuing to work hard on behalf of our community and leading our advocacy for our shire to secure this success with all its benefits," he said.
"I am really pleased and happy with my past term as mayor and now I am looking forward to continuing that."
