Cr Warren will now undertake his second term in the role after being appointed for a one-year term.
"I am extremely humbled that my fellow councillors have put their faith in me to lead them for the next 12 months and to represent the residents of the Buloke Shire," he said.
In his first term on council, Alan Getley was elected as deputy mayor at the meeting, also for a one- year term.
Also adopted at the meeting was the Appointment of Delegates, which allocates councillors as representatives to a range of committees, groups and boards.
The appointment to these external bodies forms a key part of council's partnership work and collaboration with community and other stakeholders.
The council has adopted its 10-year Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategy and Plan.
Actions have been categorised into thirteen goals for climate action which are;
- Integrate climate into council operations
- Robust emissions measurement
- Ongoing emergency management
- Waste and landfill emissions reductions
- Council building improvements
- Community building improvements
- Energy security and technology switching
- Low emission transport
- Transport infrastructure improvements
- Improve septic tank management
- Enhance biodiversity
- Conservation and revegetation
- Adaptive agriculture
- Shared community vision
Nine key projects across Buloke Shire will share in just short of $3.2 million of funding flowing from the federal government's Local Roads and Infrastructure program.
A rigorous process to determine the projects most appropriate for the funding was undertaken by councillors and council staff over the last few months.
The projects to be funded under the LRCI Program are;
- Buloke Tourism Cabins ($600,000)
- McLoughlans Road ($729,000)
- Buloke Drainage Plans and Minor Projects ($640,000)
- Buloke Footpath and Crossover Project ($582,526)
- Wycheproof Caravan Park ($300,000)
- Wooroonook Lakes Powered Sites Project ($120,000)
- Donald Community Precinct Stage 2B ($180,000)
- Aerodrome Water Connection Project ($28,000)
- Watchem Oval Water Connection Project ($20,000)
A range of contracts for other key projects were also awarded at the November meeting including; DeAraugo & Lea Electrical Contractors of Bendigo to undertake lighting upgrades at the Charlton, Nullawil and Wycheproof Recreation Reserves, Coburn's Earthmoving of Nyah to deliver pavement rehabilitation works to the Berriwillock-Birchip Road and Ausroad Systems to supply and deliver a new Single Operator Road Patching Unit.
