Big Hill Primary School confirms COVID-19 positive case

Big Hill Primary School has said they have been notified of a positive COVID-19 case in their community.

In a letter to parents and families, principal Matt Pearce confirmed the school had been contacted by the Department of Health on Tuesday.

"Today our school was advised that we have had confirmed cases of COVID-19 (all siblings) attend class on Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29," he said.

"For the purpose of isolation, we are calling Friday day zero.

"If your child was at school on either date, they have been exposed if attending the following classes: Middle Wendy, Middle Renae/Leisha and Senior Lauren/Roberta.

"Additional cleaning at school is routine every day, however, I have organised further attention to detail tonight before school returns on Wednesday."

Lightning Reef Primary School in North Bendigo has joined the long list of schools in the city that have closed its doors this week.

In a letter to parents and families, the school confirmed a person who tested positive to COVID-19 attended the campus recently.

"I am writing to you to let you know that today we received a notification of a COVID-19 positive case at our school," the letter said.

"Contact identification is important and we have contacted all potential primary close contacts.

"The school will continue to be open for all other staff and students on Tuesday."

On Sunday night, Strathfieldsaye Primary School confirmed they had been notified of more students coming back with a positive test result.

In a letter to parents and families, they said students from multiple classrooms were effected.

"These students attended class on October 25, 26, 28 and 29," the letter said.

'This means that students from rooms 7, 8, 16, 21, 22 and 23 have been identified as possible primary close contacts.

"All these students will resume remote learning from Monday, November 1."

Schools across central Victoria have continued to be impacted by coronavirus, with a number of schools closing today for deep cleaning.

St Joseph's Primary School in Quarry Hill advised that a member of the school community had tested positive for the virus.

St Joseph's will remain closed until Tuesday, November 2.

In an email, the school said the closure would enable the process of contract tracing and cleaning of the affected areas to commence.

All students who attended school between Monday, October 25 and Tuesday, October 26 are advised to remain at home while contact tracing occurs.

Castlemaine Secondary College was also notified that a positive case attended their school.

In an email, the school said contact identification was underway. The school will be open for all staff today and all eligible students will resume on Wednesday.

Marist College Bendigo has also been closed today after a member of the community tested positive.
