At this week's Central Goldfields Shire Council meeting, Searle Bros Building Contractors were awarded the contract.
Central Goldfields Shire Tullaroop Ward councillor Anna De Villiers said it was wonderful to see the tender for the next, most significant stage of the project awarded.
"The redevelopment of the existing pavilion is much needed and is another step closer to us being able to have a facility in Carisbrook that not only provides recreational opportunities for our residents but a dedicated facility for staging events, classes and gatherings," she said.
The works will see existing pavilion upgrade and will include:
- Female friendly player change rooms and amenities
- Female friendly umpire change rooms and amenities
- First aid room
- Multi-purpose room for events and meetings
- Office
- Accessible toilet
Cr De Villiers said the project was identified as one of council's priority projects as well as a key project in council's recreation and open space strategy.
"The redevelopment will deliver an accessible and inclusive modern sporting facility providing dedicated change rooms for females, and a community hub for the growing population of Carisbrook and surrounding townships," she said.
"Congratulations to the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve Committee on managing to secure this funding.
"This is a perfect example of collaboration between community groups and council."
In October 2018, the state government allocated $2 million for stage one of the project.
A further $2,157,900 was announced in August, 2020 for stage two.
Council has committed to providing $118,000 towards stage one and $220,000 towards Stage two, a total of $338,000.
The Carisbrook Recreation Reserve project is being delivered in four stages:
- Stage One: Upgrades to the existing netball and tennis courts - court resurfacing and line-marking - which is underway.
- Stage Two: Early Works - car parking, new vehicle entry, removal of away change rooms and a new green keepers shed - nearing completion.
- Stage Three: New pavilion - to begin in December.
- Stage Four: A bowls/community pavilion with a toilet block - a new pavilion to service bowling greens and community events, kitchen with kiosk, accessible public toilets at end of building, disabled car space, ramps and viewing platform.
The stage three works, valued at $2.3 million will commence in December and are expected to be complete August 2022.
