FRESH from a first-up win earlier this month with his stable newcomer Tibetan, Bendigo trainer Matthew Enright hopes to repeat the dose on his hometown cup day.

The former high-performing New Zealand galloper produced a welcome turnaround in form by winning for the first time in more than 12 month at Echuca on October 11.
His breakthrough win coincided with a change in trainer, with Enright taking over the duties with the five-year-old gelding from South Australian Michael Hickmott.
Enright hopes it's not a one-off, but admits Tibetan, who will again be ridden by Harry Coffey, will be up against it on Wednesday in a handy benchmark 70 over 1600m.
"We haven't got a great gate (barrier 15) and the race looks like it's devoid of speed," he said.
"Discussing it with the owner, we don't really want to chance our arm going forward, so we will just ride him cold and see how things play out for him.
"You'd probably have some reservations about running with that barrier, but because it's your home track and you don't have to travel anywhere, it helps the situation out.
"We think his best distance is 2000m-plus, so we will just ride him conservatively and if they do happen to run along a bit, he'll be getting home."
Enright pinpointed the $70,000 Ararat Cup (2000m) on November 7 as Tibetan's longer-term goal.
"Some of those country cups aren't coming up as strong at the moment and that's the day after the last day of the (Flemington) carnival, so it's one we'll look at depending on how he goes Wednesday," he said.
"He brought some pretty solid form with him from New Zealand, but for whatever reason, he's failed to deliver in Australia.
"Two Illicit has been a Group 1 winner and he got beaten by six-lengths behind Proabeel, so that's pretty sound form.
"But take out the six-weeks between Echuca and his last South Australian run (seven starts since late-June) and he's been up a while, so you just don't know how much he has left in him, but to me he seems to have improved since Echuca.
"That said, his best runs have been on softer tracks, so that's a bit of a negative on Wednesday, being in a late race.
"So he has a few bridges to get over - wide gate, no speed, firm track."
Tibetan will be Enright's first Bendigo Cup day runner.
He is, however, no stranger to big race success on his home track, winning the 2009 Golden Mile with Majestical.
The Montjeu gelding was a sterling performer in his days with Enright, also winning a Listed Cranbourne Cup and finishing second in a JRA Cup at Moonee Valley in 2008.
