Whether they've never played before or are looking to return, the junior program provides 5-12-year-olds the opportunity to get active and outdoors playing cricket within a fun and safe environment.
BDCA junior coordinator Nathan Fitzpatrick said the WWCB program was perfect for kids who want to start playing cricket.
"If they've never played before we provide all the gear, all they need to do is come and have a go and enjoy themselves," he said.
"After missing out on recent football seasons, cricket is a great way for kids to get active again.
"The program isn't just about the skills but also about being social and the camaraderie that exists within cricket."
Even though Australia has seen non-stop interruptions to community sport during the past 18 months, registered WCCB participation across the country increased by two per cent in 2020-21.
The boost also saw a 27.4 per cent increase in girls participating within the program on the back of the recent T20 World Cup and WBBL.
The increase has also been seen within the BDCA having higher numbers participate within the girl's under-12 competition.
"We are still looking to increase the playing numbers, but it has been difficult as this age group hasn't been at school lately," Fitzpatrick said.
"Over the next couple of weeks once restrictions continue to ease I am sure we will get the energy back and more kids playing cricket."
Fitzpatrick himself is a keen cricketer and has nothing but fond memories of playing junior level, whether at clinics or team competitions.
"The kids just love it, it puts smiles on their faces, which then also makes the parents happy," he said.
Bendigo kids still have plenty of time to get involved with the WWCB summer season.
There are 10 clubs and 30 teams throughout the region.
