Bendigo couple Paul and Danielle Pitcher have made their dream of opening a restaurant a reality. Last night the pair opened their own steak house, called The Woodhouse. Paul has been cooking for 22 years in both Bendigo and Melbourne and decided it was time to do his own thing. “I have done a lot in my career, and my wife and I wanted to put our own stamp on Bendigo. “We really hope people enjoy what we put out,” he said. The new Williamson Street restaurant is all about cooking with wood, with all the steak cooked on a wood char grill. “We are a steak house, Bendigo’s only steak house I believe. We are using top quality meat and local produce,” he said. The restaurant is aimed to cater to everyone.“People can come in for a gourmet wood fire pizza and a beer or they can come and have Sher Wagyu marble score eight scotch fillet, which will be like nothing they have ever had before,” he said. The passionate chef said the food on the menu is reasonably priced for top quality meat. “We are using the better quality produce but it will be at an affordable price for the people that want to have a good night and enjoy our atmosphere.”The Woodhouse is located in the building formerly known as the Jolly Puddler and The Puddler.
