Bendigo's eight-ball aces on target at regional championships in Horsham

Bendigo will once again have a team in division one of the Regional Eight-Ball Pool Championships next year.Four teams from Bendigo competed at the event in Horsham at the weekend.A Bendigo Eight-Ball Association team won division two and earned promotion to the top division.The victorious eight-man team went through the weekend of eight round-robin matches, a semi-final and final without losing a match and they defeated Geelong 4-2 in the final.Bendigo pool player Paul Wannenmacher said the team was confident of progressing deep into the competition after making the finals in the past three years.“You always like to think you’re going to go away and win it,” Wannenmacher said.“We’ve got the team back into division one, which we’re very happy with. It was a very good result.”Wannenmacher and his team-mates eliminated another Bendigo side in the semi-finals, while the third Bendigo team in division two narrowly missed out on finals.The Bendigo Ladies’ team in division four did not progress past the round-robin stage.Next year’s regional Eight-Ball Championships will be held at the All-Seasons International in Bendigo.
