After two heavily-interrupted seasons during 2020 and 2021, Sports Focus has launched a campaign to encourage vaccinations to ensure a safe return to community sport.
"We are currently working with organisations such as Golf Australia, Tennis Victoria and Bowls Victoria with a focus on the summer sports as their seasons are right on top of us," Sports Focus business manager Stuart Craig said.
"Their seasons are here and have unfortunately already been compromised as at this stage, they won't be able to start until early November.
"Our attention will then quickly shift to winter sports as the planning needs to begin now."
Part of Sports Focus' campaign includes a video to encourage vaccinations across the region in hope that it will give people reassurance of an uninterrupted 2022.
"We want to be able to instill confidence among players and especially within the volunteer sector that we can work towards having a season that isn't impacted by the cancellations and interruptions that we've seen during the past two years," Craig said.
"No one wants to go through the same experience again."
Craig said the aim of the campaign was to provide reassurance for all involved with community sport.
"For example, take a club supporter who pays for a membership, it will be hard for them to commit to paying the full fee if they are only going to get half of a season," he said.
"This decision will then impact club finances."
Sports Focus' video campaign features several key sports facilities throughout the region all of which share one key resemblance, empty stadiums, courts and fields.
"This is exactly what we don't want to see, these great facilities without players and fans," Craig said.
"The message we are sending out at this stage is that it looks as if vaccinations are the best way out to get back to whatever the new normal will be."
