Bendigo attractions the Golden Dragon Museum and The Central Deborah Gold Mine welcomed the 2021 Melbourne Cup to the city as part of the trophy's annual tour.

As well as celebrating the "race that stops the nation", the tour also recognised the region's link to this year's horse race.
For the second time, gold mined from Fosterville Gold Mine from the Bendigo region has been used to create the iconic trophy.

"The Melbourne Cup continues to be a symbol of resilience in the face of significant community disruption, particularly in Victoria this year," he said. "It is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of the people in the region."
Victoria Racing Club chairman Neil Wilson said the VRC is pleased to be have the Melbourne Cup trophy on the road again.
"Now in its 19th year, the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour allows local communities to come together to share stories, celebrate their favourite racing moments and to raise funds for local community charities and initiatives in their town," he said.
"The tour also plays an important role in showcasing these towns and communities with people across Australia and the world."
