City of Greater Bendigo seeks thoughts on kerbside collections

Resource Recovery and Education Manager Brooke Pearce said the city was working towards meeting the requirements of the city's draft Climate Change and Environment Strategy.

"A key action of the strategy is working towards zero waste," she said.

"Zero waste is about reducing the volume of waste we generate, reusing it where possible and ultimately sending nothing to landfill that can be recovered or recycled.

"To help us achieve these aims the city is asking residents to complete a short survey to help guide future decision making and planning relating to the frequency of kerbside collections of general waste, recycling and organics bins."

Ms Pearce said community feedback was crucial to inform future planning and decision making.

She said the survey should only take a few minutes to complete.

"A future change in the frequency of kerbside general waste, organics and recycling collections has the potential to save Greater Bendigo households money and encourage

better home waste management which helps divert recyclable items from landfill."
