MITIAMO co-coach Andy Grant wants his side to have the chance to win the Loddon Valley league senior premiership on merit, not potentially be awarded it "by default."
With the Loddon Valley finals in limbo due to Victorian restrictions that have again shut down community sport, the league is yet to make a call on whether it will award premierships to the teams that finished on top should the season be unable to re-start.
In both the senior football and A Grade netball it's the Superoos that are on top of the ladders, with both teams also defending premiers having won the 2019 flags.
Grant's Superoos finished on top of the senior ladder with a 12-0 record and while he says the continued uncertainty around how the remainder of the season will play out is becoming increasingly challenging, he's hopeful his side will get the chance to return and vie for the flag on the field.
"Being such a stop-start year, it has been really hard for everyone," Grant said.
"Don't get me wrong, though, we want to get back out there and have a crack at winning the premiership by winning a game of footy, not having it handed to you by default if that was to be the case... that's just not the same or sits well.
"But the longer it goes on, how do you keep blokes motivated and prepared because you can't get together and train as a group.

- Andy Grant - Mitiamo co-coach
"It doesn't matter how much pressure you put on the boys to keep working, it's going to get to the point where guys have had enough because it can be hard to stay motivated through all this.
"And it's not just about football through these lockdown periods. It's about people's livelihoods as well and I understand that everyone's circumstances are different and there are a few boys who have other things on their minds than preparing for footy when or if it goes ahead.
"At the end of the day, footy is just a game, but it's such a good outlet for most people. When you can't get together though to train or have functions, it's really hard."
