Opening early this week, the new Bendigo Sports Centre is set to be the new hub for sport and active recreation facilities at the university.
"We are really exciting to offer La Trobe University and the broader community a sports facility and gym," La Trobe regional sport co-ordinator Lara Daly said.
"Our Bendigo Sports Centre has both indoor and outdoor courts which can be used for casual shooting, training and competition for netball, basketball, volleyball and badminton.
"We also have our oval, group fitness studio for classes and our fully fitted gym."
Ms Daly said members will have the opportunity to not only use the facilities on their own, but hopefully in classes as well.
"We're hoping to offer yoga, mat pilates, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Les Mills and Zumba classes," she said.
"Our gym facilities also have the latest in Technogym, Australian Barbell Company and Iron Edge equipment to help you reach your health and fitness goals."
Until August 22, anyone wishing to try out the facilities can do so as part of a free trail period.
Students living on campus can also get access to discounted memberships.
The gym will be open seven days a week with opening hours being from 7am until 8pm Monday to Friday and from 8am until 12pm on weekends.
