Victoria's Health Minister Martin Foley said more than 29,000 vaccines were administered in state-run clinics on Friday.
Mr Foley said it was another record day for state clinic vaccinations.
"That is the important first step for our goal of 1 million doses in 1 million arms over these coming five weeks. We're adding more vaccination centres," he said.
"We're expanding the capacity of existing centres with more booths and our booking system is constantly, as more supply comes on board, being updated to accommodate that new supply.
"We've seen demand for AstraZeneca, particularly from young people, increase in numbers over the past week. And that's why we've now expanded that to everyone aged from 18 to 39.
"I want to thank them for coming forward in record numbers for their first AZ jab and we really do encourage people in that group to get on board, book yourself a time, and then, of course, the alternative is through our primary health care networks, our GPs and starting very soon our community pharmacies."
Mr Foley said it was encouraging to see more Victorians getting informed and rolling up their sleeves.
"We want to see more of that. We want a million jabs in these coming five weeks," he said.
Testing numbers were slightly down yesterday, which Mr Foley said needed to rise to stay on top of the virus.
Mr Foley said there were three people currently in hospital with coronavirus with one in ICU.
It comes as Queensland recorded seven new cases. Six locally acquired and one from overseas.
NSW meanwhile recorded another 466 new locally acquired cases of coronavirus and four additional deaths.

Victoria again ramped up its vaccination programs on Friday.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced the radical plan to vaccinate 60 per cent of the state's population by September.
"This is all about making sure that we get jabs in arms and that we, all of us, play our part in getting to the other side of this," he said.
