Yoo-rrook on Country will introduce the commissioners to communities and build awareness of the work Yoo-rrook will conduct in investigating historical and ongoing injustices faced by First Peoples since colonisation.
During coming weeks, the five Yoo-rrook commissioners - chairwoman Professor Eleanor Bourke, Dr Wayne Atkinson, Sue-Anne Hunter, Distinguished Professor Maggie Walter and Professor Kevin Bell QC will visit a range of locations across five regions in Victoria.
They include north east, north west, south west, south east and metropolitan areas.
Professor Bourke said meeting face-to-face with traditional owners and First Peoples communities before beginning the historic work of Yoo-rrook was important.
"Yoo-rrook on Country aims to introduce all five commissioners to First Nations peoples of Victoria and other Victorians so that they learn about the Yoo-rrook Justice Commission," she said.
"Meeting with, listening to and hearing from our First Peoples is an important foundation for this process before we begin the work."
The commission is Australia's first and only formal truth-telling process into injustices experienced by First Peoples since colonisation.
Yoo-rrook will investigate historical and ongoing injustices experienced against First Peoples in Victoria by both state and non-state entities.
Other news:
They include cultural violations and massacres, policing and criminal justice, child protection, family and welfare matters, health and healthcare as well as other areas of economic, social and political life.
Yoo-rrook on Country will take place across regional and metropolitan locations, including Seymour, Shepparton, Echuca, Wodonga, Swan Hill, Mildura, Bendigo and Horsham.
Official dates and additional locations for the events will be announced soon.
