Business Packed With Love is urging people to get into their garden for the competition, which will be run over the coming months.
Owner Lee McDonald said it would help people build their sense of community.
"I feel like anything that is safe and can bring people a sense of happiness, hope and joy is just so important right now," she said.
Competition categories will include the tallest/largest flower, the most creative photo and a section for people growing their very first sunflower.
Ms McDonald started her business in 2019 when she and her children had an abundance of sunflower seeds in their garden.
"At the time I was a stay at home mum with my young boys, Jack and Charlie. What started as a little hobby soon became our passion," she said.
Anyone who wants to take part in the competition should visit Packed With Love's Facebook page.
