A MAN has been charged with murder after a death in northern Victoria on Thursday night.
Homicide Squad detectives have charged a Caniambo man, 58, with one count of murder.
The charge came after an incident about 8.50pm on Thursday at Numurkah.
A Numurkah man, 55, was fatally shot outside his property on Prentice Lane.
Police believe both parties knew each other.
The Caniambo man was due to face Shepparton Magistrates' Court on Friday afternoon.

A man has died in an apparent shooting outside a property in northern Victoria on Thursday night.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death in Numurkah.
Victoria Police have been told the man went to investigate a noise outside his property in Prentice Lane before a suspected gunshot was heard about 8.50pm.
The man was found injured and died at the scene.
A crime scene has been set up while detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
