THE Bendigo East Swimming Club is eagerly anticipating the beginning of Jenna Strauch's Olympics campaign on Wednesday night.
Strauch began her Olympic dream at Bendigo East, with that dream to become a reality for the 24-year-old when she contests the heats the women's 200m breaststroke later this week.
"There is a lot of excitement at the club for Jenna," Bendigo East Swimming Club coach John Jordan said at the weekend.
"We've got a lot of younger swimmers who talk about wanting to swim at the Olympics, so it's great for them to be able to see that someone who started here at the club has gone on to do that.

"Across all the clubs in Bendigo we don't have a high proportion of swimmers compared to places like Geelong or Traralgon, so to have Jenna as an Olympic swimmer is really inspiring.
"About five years ago she got on the junior worlds team and now she's made it to the Olympics, so people can now see that we might be a country club, but we're getting swimmers to that level, which helps to generate some excitement."
Strauch is now based on the Gold Coast at Bond University.
