DAMAGING winds are expected to hit much of central Victoria on Saturday afternoon.
The Bureau of Meteorology said north-westerly winds averaging between 50km/h and 60km/h will lash the state, along with showers and thunderstorms.
Locations that could be affected include Bendigo, Maryborough, Daylesford, Castlemaine, and Kyneton.

The State Emergency Service advised people to stay away from trees, drains, and low-lying areas if driving conditions become dangerous.
People should also avoid dangerous hazards and be aware that winds and storms can make trees and branches unstable.
Loose items such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines should be safely secured.

KYNETON is part of a severe weather warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on Friday afternoon.
The warning includes a forecast for severe winds for the areas around Hamilton, Warrnambool, Portland, Kyneton, Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh.

Damaging northwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of around 90km/h could develop across the warning area from the west during Saturday morning.
Wind gusts may reach 100 km/h across elevated parts of eastern Victoria and across the peaks of the Grampians.
