The Strathdale-Maristians' duo of Jack Pysing and Will Gilmore and Bendigo United's Xavier Austin have all been selected for the program, which aims to further develop the game of talented young players in a high-performance environment.
The trio are among 30 players in the Victoria Country squad for the program, which will be led by current and former Victorian players, skill acquisition experts and Cricket Victoria's coaching and talent specialists.
Pysing and Gilmore both helped Strathdale-Maristians win a sixth-consecutive BDCA under-18 premiership last season, while Austin grasped a first XI opportunity with Bendigo United in the final round, making an unbeaten 78 opening the batting in a win over Bendigo.
The Emerging Players Program sessions will help prepare both the Victoria Country and Metro squads for the Under-17 National Championships to be held in Tasmania in January.
"We'll use these sessions held in Melbourne and regional areas, together with our trial matches and the early rounds of the season, to select our Victorian squads for the National Championships," Cricket Victoria Male Emerging Players Program manager Tom Evans said.
"The coaching and insight into cricket at the professional level will be of great benefit to all members of the Emerging Players Program and we look forward to seeing their development throughout the course of the season."
