The City of Greater Bendigo has announced an increase in crowd numbers to 3500 people each night.
More than 51,000 people had booked tickets for Awaken - Bendigo brought to light, which aims to capture the city's history and stories through 13 sensory installations.
The free light and sound event was ticketed at the last minute, so it could run while remaining COVID-19 safe.
The event was booked out for its remaining run, until the extra tickets were made available.
Council's acting Strategy and Growth director Andrew Cooney said the change meant the city had 1500 extra bookings available for Sunday to Thursday, and 500 extra available on Friday and Saturday.
Mr Cooney said the increase in numbers was approved after discussions with the state government.
He said the city was delighted with the increased capacity numbers, which meant more people would be able to see the event.
He reminded visitors to carry masks, bring their tickets, and socially distance.
Other news:
Mr Cooney said the city encouraged people to book online for the event to avoid disappointment.
"Awaken has been a hugely popular event that has been embraced by the community and the city has received lots of positive feedback from people who have enjoyed the event," he said.
"Despite the cold temperatures, it is great people have been keen to see Awaken and are spending more time in the city centre, enjoying a meal or drinks to support our local hospitality businesses too."
Awaken is due to run until Saturday July 17. Tickets are available online at: bit.ly/3yoyNvy
