The 16-year-old scored her first race winner in just her third race drive at Maryborough on Monday.
Sanderson, who came within inches of notching a win in her maiden drive when she finished second aboard Timely Sovereign three days' earlier at Stawell, broke through for a well-deserved and morale boosting victory behind the Laura Crossland-trained Cool Rocking Daddy.
At the time of her first win, Sanderson had held her driver's licence for just 10 days.
The daughter of Charlton trainer Shane Sanderson and wife Naomi and sister of accomplished young reinsman Ryan could not be happier with the bright start to her career in the sulky.
"I've been very lucky that the horses I have driven have gone very well," she said.
"I was close to getting a win in my first race, (Timely Sovereign) went super. It was his first run for our stable and he went really well.
"He was pretty close; I didn't expect that, so I was pretty thrilled for dad."
Entrusted with the drive aboard the $1.90 favourite at Maryborough, Sanderson was anxious to grasp her opportunity on Cool Rocking Daddy and did so with a cool and patient drive to score by 5.2-metres over Heaven Attracts, who was driven by Laura Crossland's son Cody.
A grateful Sanderson was left counting her lucky stars after acknowledging the winning drive could easily have gone the way of Cody Crossland.
"Cody already had a drive in the race and luckily he recommended me to his mum, as she knows Ryan and I," she said.
"That was really good of him.
"I'm very fortunate and grateful to everyone who has helped.
"I can't tell you how happy I was when I went past Cody, I was smiling all the way to the line.
"When I did my form, I thought the race was good for the horse and he would be a good chance, but with the right run and the right drive, he went super."
With win number one in the bank, Sanderson is already hot in pursuit of her second and will again partner Timely Sovereign for her father Shane at Melton this Friday night.
A special moment in her fledgling career will arrive at her home track at Charlton on Sunday, when she gets to drive in a race for the first time against her brother Ryan, who has stamped himself as one of the state's leading concession drivers, with 28 wins since the family's arrival from New South Wales in March.
"We were going to drive against each other at Stawell, I had Sea Hawke and he was on Dot The Eye, but he could only stay until the fourth race as he had to go to Mildura, so he got off Dot The Eye," Sanderson said.
"I think it was because he was scared of me," she laughed.
"But he (Ryan) has always been so supportive of me.
"It will be fun to get to drive against each other, which we will definitely do on Sunday as Ryan has a few double ups in dad's races and dad will put me on the other one.
"I reckon one of them, Minimum Wage, will be a real good chance, so Ryan better look out."
