The 25-year-old heads into the event at Mount Juliet Estate confident after a top-20 finish last week at the Travelers Championship.
Herbert will look to do even better this year at the Irish Open after a strong T7 finish in 2020.
He will tee up in round one alongside Laurie Canter and Victor Dubisson at 5.40PM AEST on Thursday.
The field includes defending champion John Catlin, Open champion Shane Lowry and major winner Rory McIlroy.
Australians in the field include Maverick Antcliff, Jake McLeod, Scott Hend, Wade Ormsby, Jason Scrivener and Min Woo Lee.
Since 2014 the Irish Open has been part of the qualifying series for the prestigious British Open, with the leading three players who finish within the top 10 earning spots for the event.
After the Irish Open Herbert will head to Scotland for a Rolex Series event.
The abrdn Scottish Open will see the world's best in action at the renowned Renaissance Club.
Herbert also had a strong finish at the tournament last year finishing T4.
