Birchip Business and Learning Centre, Charlton Neighbourhood House, Donald Learning Group and Wycheproof Community Resource Centre are part of the Mallee Neighbourhood House Network.

Cluster leader and Birchip co-ordinator Simone Christie said the funding was allocated through the Buloke Shire Council's 2021-22 budget.

"By supporting us with a minor budget allocation, the council assists 6184 residents of Buloke who all have access to a Neighbourhood House," she said.

"We hope this funding will become an annual inclusion in the budget in the interests of long-term sustainability and in recognition of the ongoing value provided by local neighbourhood houses at a local level.

"These partnerships are vital in helping the council achieve a healthy, socially connected, inclusive and accessible community with a prosperous economy offering services, amenities and activities that match our desired liveability by 2030."

The team made their submission earlier in June and were happy to receive the news of their success.

"We were very excited," Ms Christie said. "While we did put in for $5000, we were happy to receive any funding and support from the council."

She said the network planned to use the funding to deliver a range of projects around the group.

"We'll be working together as a cluster to deliver projects across the Buloke during the 16 Days of Activism and R U Okay day plus many more," she said.

"We want to make sure we put on events in our local communities to help people reconnect in these troubling times we're in."
