Members for Bendigo Maree Edwards and Jacinta Allan announced 10 schools in the Greater Bendigo community were among many across Victoria to share in $12.48 million in term two funding under the state government's Planned Maintenance Program.
"I'm delighted to see Greater Bendigo share in funding to get these much-needed maintenance projects off the ground," Ms Allan said.
The schools include:
- Bendigo South East Secondary College - $55,000 for roof plumbing
- Eaglehawk North Primary School - $25,000 for roof plumbing
- Eaglehawk Primary School - $50,000 for roof plumbing
- Golden Square Primary School - $10,000 for roof plumbing and structural works
- Kangaroo Flat Primary School - $70,000 for roof plumbing
- Lockwood Primary School - $60,000 for works on the school's Shelter in Place building
- Lockwood South Primary School - $110,000 for works on the school's Shelter in Place building
- Maldon Primary School - $10,000 for roof plumbing
- Quarry Hill Primary School - $5,000 for roof plumbing
- Raywood Primary School - $95,000 for works on the school's Shelter in Place building
The program ensures schools can undertake essential work to grounds and classrooms such as fixing roofs and windows, painting, resurfacing floors and replacing windows, as well as external landscaping works like pathways and lighting.
"This investment ensures students in Central Victoria can learn in safe settings that complement the top-class education we are committed to providing," Ms Edwards said.
The funding is on top of $10.4 million already provided to 230 schools through term one PMP allocations and ensures existing buildings at Victoria's 1,500 state schools are safe, modern and properly maintained.
In the past seven years, the Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries.
