The 55-year-old man appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court last week where he pleaded guilty to one charge of drink driving.
The court heard on January 5 this year, police pulled the man over in Heathcote. He underwent a preliminary breath test, which showed the presence of alcohol.
A second breath test showed a blood alcohol reading of 0.126, which was more than two times over the legal limit.

The man's driver's licence was immediately suspended and his vehicle was impounded.
The 55-year-old told police he knew there was a chance he was over the limit as he had consumed six or seven cans of bourbon before driving.
Magistrate Patrick Southey told the offender he would need to spend at least two years off the road because he had relevant prior convictions.
The man, who represented himself in court, said he did not have an excuse for his offending.
The 55-year-old was convicted and fined $900. His licence was cancelled and he was disqualified from driving for two years.
Mr Southey warned the man that if he was caught driving unlicensed, he would be facing time in jail.
