Bendigo Police are looking to speak to a female witness who broke up an assault in the city centre on Thursday afternoon.

The reported assault occurred at the intersection of Williamson Street and Hargreaves Street, near Australia Post at about 4pm.
A Bendigo Police spokeswoman said a group of males approached the victim.

"There was some pushing and shoving and the victim received minor injuries," the spokeswoman said.
"Police have CCTV footage of the incident and have been able to identified most of the offenders who are possibly known to the victim.
"Police are trying to get onto the female who broke up the fight for their investigations."
Investigators are keen to speak to a female witness who intervened in the assault and prevented the incident from continuing.
