A Department of Justice and Community Safety spokesperson confirmed the incident happened on Monday, June 7.
"The incident was quickly contained by staff, and reported to Victoria Police. A staff member was transported by Ambulance Victoria to hospital," the spokesperon said.

"The department takes the safety and security of all staff and young people seriously - violent behaviour or assaults at youth justice centres are absolutely unacceptable."
A Community and Public Sector Union spokesperson confirmed the staff member was punched by a young offender on Monday.
The incident follows a separate incident at the precinct on Saturday, June5.
"The incident was contained by Malmsbury staff and there were no injuries to staff or young people," the Department of Justice and Community Safety spokesperson said.
