The ruckman/forward arrives at the Loddon Valley Football Netball League club after helping St Mary's to a grand final berth in the Northern Territory Football League.
A product of the Calder Cannons in the NAB League, Grenfell also played for Tatura and Seymour in the GVFL.
"Brandyn went to school with (Marong forward) Adam Ward,'' Marong coach Linton Jacobs said.
"We've had so many injuries that we needed a big man to help us out and Brandyn fits the bill.
"I think we'll use him as a forward who plays a little bit in the ruck."
In 2018, Grenfell kicked 57 goals in 19 games for Tatura playing predominantly as a forward.
Marong have been without number one ruckman Justin Hynes (broken leg) since round one. He is expected to return in the next few weeks.
"Hynesy will do the majority of the ruck work when he gets back and Brandyn will do five to seven minutes a quarter,'' Jacobs said.
Grenfell will ease the pressure on key forward Kain Robins and make the Panthers less predictable when they move the ball inside 50.
Robins is third on the league goalkicking table with 26.
"Kain and Brandyn should work well together and it will make it harder for the opposition to zone off,'' Jacobs said.
"It gives us more flexibility across the board. Richard Tibbett has played as a key forward the last couple of weeks, now we might be able to play him as a key defender or even on a wing."
The Panthers went into the COVID-19 lockdown period in fourth spot on the ladder with a 4-2 record.
They fell short in games against top two teams Mitiamo and Bridgewater, but were more than competitive.
"We haven't had a good run with injuries, so we'd love to get a good run at it with close to our best side,'' Jacobs said.
"Kyle Manley (hamstring), Cory Jacobs (hamstring), Harry Morrish (unavailable) and Zac Turnbull (hamstring) haven't played for a few weeks,'' Jacobs said.
"We should get Kyle and Cory back this week. Cam Berry did his ACL and is out for the year, while Simon Weekly tore his hamstring off the bone and we won't get him back until the final two rounds.
"In the next few weeks we'll be closer to getting our full list back on the park and, hopefully, we can get some games into them when we have that block of games against the likes of Pyramid Hill, Mitiamo, Bridgewater and Maiden Gully.
"If we can play well through that period we'll have a chance to put ourselves in a good position on the ladder."
If the LVFNL action resumes this weekend the Panthers are scheduled to play bottom side Inglewood at Inglewood.
