The front's arrival could bring widespread showers, Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Sarah Scully said.
"That cold front should move eastwards through Victoria and New South Wales during Tuesday," she said.
Ms Scully said severe weather warnings could be issued for much of southern Australia.
Snow falls will likely arrive in time for the start of Victoria's ski season.
It will likely be welcomed by a tourism industry hit hard by lockdowns over recent weeks.
Bendigo can expect between 10 and 15mm of rain then, with a shower or two to arrive the day before.
The city is expected to miss out on the severe winds that parts of the state will brace for.
Minimum temperatures could drop as low as two degrees by early Wednesday morning.
The BOM expects drizzly weather to remain around Bendigo through to Thursday.
