The 39-year-old finished the three-day multi-discipline event in third position with a final time of 23:17:26.
"I am very pleased with my result as there was around 30 competitors and I went into it aiming for a top-ten finish," Brown said.
He finished in seventh position at the end of day one, which included a 10km swim in the ocean, followed straight up with a 140km bike ride.
During the second day he maintained his seventh overall place in the 281km bike ride (08:27:27), but it was in the final day where he buckled down to jump up the leaderboard.
On day three the competitors capped off the event with an 84km double marathon (06:57:57), a sporting discipline that is one of Brown's strengths.
"The key to multi-day events is the ability to be recover," he said.
"Especially heading into the last day after almost 20 hours of racing, you start to see the light at the end of tunnel.
"That's when your mental strength comes in and you need to have the ability to push your hardest to get the job done."
Brown's third-place finish was approximately 10 minutes behind Cheyne Murphy in second and overall winner Shane Kent had an impressive time of 22:32:05.
After the mammoth accomplishment Brown has taken a couple of weeks off to recover before he prepares to do it all again at the Ironman Cairns in early June.
"Being the crazy person I am, my focus is now on Cairns in a couple weeks," Brown said.
"I've had a week off and now I am slowly rebuilding my fitness levels."
