Kennedy, who is back at Pyramid Hill after a stint with BFNL club Strathfieldsaye in 2019, spotted encouraging signs in the Bulldogs' hard-working 33-23 win against Inglewood.
It was just the start they were looking for after going winless during the 2019 season.
The win was the Bulldogs' first at A-grade level since round 12 of the 2018 season when they defeated Marong.
Kennedy, who lined up at goal shooter, said the Bulldogs were made to fight every inch of the way by a determined Blues.
"It was just good to be out there again and great to get a win," she said.
"It was a really windy day, so it wasn't much of a game to watch and it was really hard for both teams to move the ball down the court. And it was a bit of a tricky one for the goalers.
"We got a jump on them early and they were able to bring the margin in a few times, so it was definitely closer than the final margin suggested."
With only one player remaining from the 2019 line-up, Kennedy said the Bulldogs would likely continue taking their time to gel.
They will look to capitalise on their early momentum this Saturday against Newbridge, which will be looking to rebound after a loss to Maiden Gully YCW last weekend.
"I'm not really sure what to expect from Newbridge at this early point of the year, we'll just try and focus more on what we do and go from there," Kennedy said.
Best for Pyramid Hill against Inglewood were goal kepeer Abbey Dingwall, who like Kennedy has returned to the club this season, and wing defence Monique Doyle.
Kennedy was further buoyed by the performance of 16-year-old centre Imogen Broad in her first A-grade game.
"Imogen did a great job for us - it was really exciting for her," she said.
"We don't have under-17s this season so she's come up to A-grade and slotted in really well."
In other round two games this weekend, Inglewood faces the might of reigning premiers Mitiamo and Calivil United will look to bounce back from a round one defeat to Marong when it hosts impressive first round winners Maiden Gully YCW.
